For troubleshooting, please refer below.

Sample app troubleshooting

  • In the case of sample app being not installed

    In device in which sample app will be installed, USB debugging must be turned on under Developers option > USB debugging.

  • During sample app install, INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_INCONSISTENT_CERTIFICATES error occurs.

    This is the case where sample app builded from another computer has been installed previously. Generally speaking, since certificates differ by computers, certificate unmatch error occured. In this case, uninstall sample app from the device and try to install again.

  • During launch of sample app, if login fails and returns to first page

    • "error" in logcat: Check if "misconfigured","error_description":"invalid android_key_hash or ios_bundle_id or web_site_url" is still in existence.
    • Check if android_key_hash param value, logged with above log, matches registered sample app key hash. Compare values under consideration that log of android_key_hash is param URL encoded value.
    • If to key hash does not match, re-register by following sample app setting.
    • If two key hash does not match, check if login attempted account matches the developer's account which registered key hash. Sample app can only be logged in with such account in which it has registered key hash with.

User management troubleshooting

  • In a case where login fails Case1
    • Check if "error":"misconfigured","error_description":"invalid android_key_hash or ios_bundle_id or web_site_url" appear in log cat.
    • Check if Key used during app sign is registered in setting > general > platform > Android > key hash .
    • Check if logged android_key_hash param value,logged with log above, has same value with registered app key hash value.
    • If key hash is not registered, or two key hash does not match, follow app creation in case 2 and re-register accordingly.
  • Login fails case 2
    • Check if log Redirect URL: https://kauth.kakao.com/oauth/authorize? appears in log cat.
    • check if parameters client_id and redirect_uri has passed in correctly.
      • client_id should match settings > general > app key > native app key .
      • redirect_uri는 kakao{client_id}%3A%2F%2Foauth와 일치해야 합니다.
  • In a case where easy login fails with kakao talk and ID/password requesting window pops up.

    Check if your version of kakaotalk is above 4.2.0.

Kakaostory troubleshooting

  • No response when clicking app name of post's source, located at bottom of story details button

    • Check if such app is installed.
    • If app is installed, check if kakao[appkey]://kakaostory scheme has bee set. Refer getting started.
    • If app is not installed, check if market URL is set.
      • If device that have received message is Android check if settings > general > platform > Android > market URL has been set.
      • If device that have received message is iOS, check if settings > general > platform > iOS > iPhone app store ID or iPad app store ID has been set.
  • Redirects to market when clicking app name of post's source, located at bottom of story details button, even under circumstance of app being installed.

    check if kakao[appkey]://kakaostory scheme has bee set. Refer getting started.

  • Unable to post a photo due to invalid path even with valid photo path.

    • Check if path is retrieved KakaoStoryService#requestMultiUpload(com.kakao.KakaoStoryHttpResponseHandler, List) upload. Other image path is not allowed.

  • No response upon clicking redirect to app button/link

    • Check if device which received message has app installed.
    • If app is installed, check if kakao[appkey]://kakaolink scheme is set. refer to getting started.
    • If app is not installed, check if market URL is set.
      • If device that have received message is Android check if settings > general > platform > Android > market URL has been set.
      • If device that have received message is iOS, check if settings > general > platform > iOS > iPhone app store ID or iPad app store ID has been set.
  • Redirects to market even if app is installed in a dvice

    Check if kakao[appkey]://kakaolink scheme is set. refer to getting started.

  • window pops up saying "message can not be sent due to the message's origin app has error in its settings(site domain). Please make inquiry to admin" when clicking redirect to web button/link

    settings > general > platform > web > site domain 's set domain, and parameter passed in URL should match. If domain is not set or wrong parameter has been passed in, this error will occur.

  • Market parameter fails to be applied

    • Check if kakaotalk is a version above 4.5.0
      • Android market parameter setting support kakaotalk of version 4.5.0 or above.
      • If lower version tries to set market parameter and send kakaolink, market url without parameter will be sent.

Push notification troubleshooting

  • In a case where push token is registered but yet, push message can not be sent.
    • getting started 3. check if IP address is set to any address in google developer center, using GCM service.
