This document provides a comprehensive guide on how to use the Map API.

The Map API provides various methods and libraries as an SDK, allowing you to implement Kakao Map features on web and app platforms. By using the Map API, you can build a wide range of location-based services.

To use the Kakao Map API, you must complete the following steps:

1. Register an app.
2. Register service information to Platform key.
3. Activate the Kakao Map API: Set [State] to [On] in [Kakao Map] > [Usage settings] on the app management page.
   • If any developer, who already owns the Kakao Map activated app and needs to activate the Kakao Map API additionally, Request additional features is required.
4. If a quota higher than the free quota is required, you can additionally use the service with paid usage by setting the [Kakao Map] status to [Enabled] in the [Available paid APIs] list under [Paid API] > [General] on the app management page.

The Kakao Maps API website provides an SDK to simplify integration with the Maps API.

When calling APIs using the Maps SDK, you must use the correct Platform key for your platform. If your app uses an incorrect app key, error occurs.

Kakao APIs provide each app with monthly and daily quotas to support stable service. You can see the currently applied quota information in the Quota.

If your service needs additional quotas beyond the Free quotas, additional settings for billing are required. See Paid API for the details.

The Kakao Map API provides a free quota per app. If you exceed the free quota, a 429 error occurs.

If you require additional quotas beyond the Free quotas, you can pay for increased usage to make more API calls. For detailed setup instructions, refer to Paid API.

You can view monthly and daily quota usage of your app in [Statistics] > [Quota] on the app management page.
