This document introduces Kakao Sync.

Kakao Sync is a business solution that extends Kakao Login to simplify the service signup process.

Instead of a complex signup flow, users can quickly sign up with their Kakao Account on the Simple Signup Consent screen. On this screen, users can consent to the provision of user information, service terms, and Kakao Talk Channel addition at once, then join your service more easily.

Kakao Sync is an additional feature that works based on Kakao Login. The main functional differences between Kakao Sync and Kakao Login are as follows.

By adopting Kakao Sync, you can use the following features.

• Users can quickly sign up for your service as soon as they consent on the Simple Signup Consent screen.
• Users can complete Simple Signup for your service with their Kakao Account without a separate service signup process.
• Because users can also consent to service terms, you can minimize the inconvenience of entering information during signup.
• If users consent to adding a Kakao Talk Channel during Simple Signup, you can gain more Kakao Talk Channel friends. (Get more Kakao Talk Channel friends)
• You can send targeted messages by combining your service's member data with user information provided by Kakao.
• If you use Auto-login from Kakao Talk, users who completed Simple Signup can use your service without logging in again when they open your service page in Kakao Talk.

Kakao Sync Simple Signup adds your service terms to the Kakao Login Consent screen together with the consent items required for signup.

Users can quickly sign up for your service as soon as they consent on the Simple Signup screen, without going through multiple signup pages. This helps your service acquire more users through a simpler signup process.

1. In a service that has adopted Kakao Sync, a user selects the [Start with Kakao] button to request login.
2. After logging in with Kakao Talk or Kakao Account, the user consents to user information provision and your service terms on the Consent screen. If needed, the user can also add your Kakao Talk Channel.
3. Your service calls the Retrieve user information API and completes signup based on the provided user information and service terms consent details.

If Kakao does not provide information that is required for signup, collect it separately later, when it is actually needed during service use.

You can retrieve a user's service terms consent details, request consent only to the required terms for users who have not agreed to them, or revoke consent for specific items.

This helps you manage consent status efficiently and respond when terms change or additional consent is needed.

On the Kakao Sync Simple Signup screen, you can also obtain consent to adding your service's Kakao Talk Channel as a friend, which expands the audience for channel messages.

By connecting your service and Kakao Talk Channel, you can manage the journey from user acquisition to revisit campaigns in one flow.

Your service can segment user groups using the user information obtained through Kakao Sync and service usage history, and send personalized information through Kakao Talk Channel messages. This helps not only acquire new users but also encourage existing users to revisit and repurchase.

Using the service user ID (user_id) of users who signed up through Kakao Sync, you can combine that ID with your user data and send targeted messages on Kakao advertising platforms.
